NA-63 Jhelum Bye-Elections Result 31 August 2016 Announced. Justice (Retd) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema got 82,420 votes while his rival PTI candidate Muhammad Ahmed Chatta secured 80,123 votes.
As many as 14 candidates of different parties are contesting the by-election. The voting begun at 8.00am and will continue till 5 pm.
LAHORE: By-polls for NA-63 Jhelum and PP-232 Vehari will be held today and a close contest is expected between the candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the elections.
Police and personnel of Pakistan army performed security duties at polling stations.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Punjab office, for NA-63 Jhelum-II, as many as 427,757 registered voters will cast their vote at 976 polling booths (male 514, female 462) of 314 polling stations.
Four candidates including Raja Matloob Mehdi representing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Jahangir Mahmood Mirza Pakistan of People’s Party parliamentarian, Chaudhary Fawad Hussain Pakistan of PTI and Dewan Hashmat Hayat of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid will contest. Another five candidates withdrew their nomination papers earlier.
As many as 427,757 registered voters will cast their vote at 976 polling booths (male 514, female 462) on 314 polling stations for NA-63 Jhelum. 39 polling stations were declared sensitive in the constituency. Army and police will perform security duty in the constituency.
